Artwork and file setup
What your file needs before it can be printed, and the free templates that make it easy.
File requirements
- Print-ready PDF.
- CMYK colour, not RGB. Colours built in RGB or as spot colours shift when converted for printing.
- 300 dpi or higher. Images pulled from a website are usually 72 dpi and will look blurry or pixelated in print.
- Built to the finished size of the product you ordered.
- Bleed: background colours and images run past the cut line by the amount shown on the product page. Our templates have it built in.
- Embed all images and convert your text to outlines, so nothing shifts or disappears.
- Black text should be 100% black only (C0 M0 Y0 K100), not a mix of all four inks.
Use our templates
Every product page has free templates under the File Prep tab, one for each size we offer. Each template shows three things: the page edge (run your background all the way to it), the red cut line, and the green safety line. Keep text and anything important inside the green line, because cutting can shift very slightly. Delete the guide lines before you save your PDF.
What we are not responsible for
We print what you send us. We can't take responsibility for:
- Spelling and grammar.
- Low-resolution or distorted images in your file.
- Missing bleed, damaged fonts, overprinting or form fields.
- Files not built to the template, or pages in the wrong order.
- Exact colour matching. A screen proof shows layout, text and placement, not exact colour or ink density.
- Small shifts when cutting, which is why the safety margin matters.
Rather not do it yourself?
We can fix your file, convert your native design file to print-ready PDF, or design something from scratch. See our file setup service.
